Some Racine street lights coming down due to lack of funding

Crews in Racine spent Wednesday taking down several street lights! It's a measure meant to save money, but some residents are trying to stop it, citing safety concerns.

Candice Gloede is one of many Racine residents who have signed a petition to stop the removal of street lights. Her block alone is set to lose two street lights, and she feels this is unacceptable. "When the bar's full on Friday and Saturday nights, and there's tons and tons of cars on the street, more break-ins, more kids getting injured. It just doesn't make any sense to me," Gloede said.

Concordia Lutheran School is preparing for its Night of Enchantment on February 11th, an event that will hopefully raise several dollars for the school. This fun-filled event includes formal dinner, a silent and live auction followed by chocolate sampling.

Corncordia Lutheran School is still looking for donors in southeastern Wisconsin to give gift certificates, monetary donations or items of monetary value. The money raised at the Night of Enchantment will be used for "educational and technological enrichment" of the students. If you'd like to make a donation, please call 1-262-884-0991.
